Doxa is still assisting the Earthquake Victims in Haiti

To Jesus Be The Glory!

The news media have virtually stopped all reporting on the earthquake victims. However, the conditions of the victims have not changed much since January 12 of 2010. Today, reportedly 810,000 people still leave under tents in the 1,150 camps scattered throughout the city of Port-au-Prince and its surroundings.

This slideshow you see on this page contains pictures taken on June 28, 2011 during our clothing distribution effort inside a camp called Canaan just outside of Port-au-Prince.  Reportedly, approximately 19,000 families live in this camp and a vast majority of them are refugees from the January 12, 2010 earthquake.  We distributed over 200 cubic yards of clothing to several groups inside the camps.  We provided modest monetary assistances to some of the victims as well ranging from $100 to $200 (Haitian currency).

The money for this assistance was provided by the Center of Hope (Haiti), Inc. (COHH), a sister organization, based in Connecticut, which is currently helping orphaned children of Haiti by providing them with shelter, education, nutrition, healthcare, etc. Early this year, COHH granted DFI a check of $5,000.00 earmarked to support our ongoing assistance to the earthquake victims in Haiti.
